Enjoy this low level and easy route as part of a sightseeing tour.
Walk out of Ambleside either over Loughrigg Terrace, or as this route shows through Clappersgate & Skelwith.
Some roadside walking has been improved by the farmers and forestry giving some land to allow you to leave the tarmac.
Walk down to Wray Castle on the shores of Lake Windermere and enjoy the views with a coffee.
Follow the lake shore to Nab Ferry and cross to Bowness on Windermere.
Either get the steamer back up to Waterhead in Ambleside or the open topped bus.
